Frequently asked questions about the FMAA

  • When can I take the FMAA exam? 

    IMA offers continuous testing for the English FMAA exam. That means you can schedule to take your exam at a Prometric Testing Center when it is convenient for you (space permitting).

    Note: You must take the exam within six months from the date that you register.

    The Arabic version of the exam will continue to be offered within specific testing windows.

  • How do I maintain my FMAA?

    Certified FMAAs will need to pay a $49 annual renewal fee and earn 15 CPE credits per year.

  • Where do I take the FMAA exam? 

    Exams are administered through the worldwide network of Prometric Testing Centers and are available in accordance with local customs. There are many locations throughout the U.S. and internationally. To locate a test center, please visit www.prometric.com/ICMA.

  • How can I take the FMAA exam for free with the IMA Student Scholarship Program?

    Students from IMA-endorsed or IMA partner schools are nominated by faculty to receive this scholarship, which allows the student to prepare for and take the FMAA (or CMA) exam at no cost to them.
